Healthcare Career Training in San Francisco and San Jose, CA

Women are 50.3% of the population of California. We are key drivers of industry and innovation, leaders, and vital participants in essential workforce industries. That’s why we need to continue supporting – and increasing – investments in women across the state. But women face significant challenges, even after decades of progress, to their economic well-being. Women are essential to California’s globally competitive economy – our success is California’s success! Thanks to a California Commission of the Status of Women and Girls Grant, Bay Area Medical Academy will be investing in women through the 2023/2024 Women’s Recovery Response Grant because we all do better together. If you would like to receive funding for our Medical Assisting Program through this grant, please book a phone call to speak with us here. We’d love to hear from you!

I just completed my second week as the lead lab assistant at Palo Alto Medical Center. I’ve got nothing but love for Career Services – thanks for everything.

Nick P., Phlebotomy Technician Graduate

UCSF Medical Center and the Bay Area Medical Academy (BAMA) share a passion for empowering healthcare professionals to be excellent providers of patient care services. Our common vision of patient-centered medicine has yielded a close collaboration between institutions on curriculum development, externship opportunities, and community outreach. UCSF recognizes BAMA certifications as highly competitive evidence of training in Medical Assisting and we have a great partnership with BAMA’s career services team. We look forward to interviewing BAMA graduates for job openings during our regular employer spotlights and regularly place several BAMA graduates in roles such as Medical or Hospital Assistant in departments such as Primary Care, Family Medicine, and Positive Care 360 practices.

Saba Mirza, Recruiter, UCSF Medical Center

The MA students have always been well trained by Bay Area Medical Academy (BAMA). On a regular basis when there had been an opening at Ward 86 – Positive Health Program, we hire a former student from BAMA. Medical Assistants from BAMA have proven to be well prepared, fast learners, and very motivated in working at Ward 86.

Roland Zepf ACRN, Clinic Manager, San Francisco Hospital

We have worked with BAMA and are delighted with the talented employees we have been able to hire from their [Phlebotomy & Medical Assisting] programs. We have also been sending all of our administrative employees through the phlebotomy program at BAMA. We have chosen BAMA because of their dedication to excellence, their thorough training program and importantly their interest in making sure to keep service orientation as a high priority.

Sidney Luu, District Phlebotomy Manager, One Medical Group

I feel so fortunate to have received the funding for my education at Bay Area Medical Academy. It enabled me to be trained, certified, and back in the workforce in less than nine months. As a San Francisco resident, voter, and tax-payer, it is my wish that this program continue to help displaced workers receive training and education for healthcare jobs. As a former high tech professional, I can certainly speak to technology’s values, but I know that there is no program or software tool out there that can provide compassion, support, and comfort to those who are ill and in need.

Noelle M., BAMA Graduate

I liked the hands-on training best. The training in class was set up to give you the experience of working in a doctor’s office. You’re trained to take vitals and give injections, among other things.

Joan Garchitorena, Medical Assisting Graduate

I lost my business and could not find a job for a long time. I was hopeless until I found out the free funding for the education provided by Bay Area Medical Academy. I felt very fortunate to have attended the Medical Assistant program for eight months and to be completing my classroom training next week!

Mahsa G., BAMA Graduate
