The Esthetics is a 600 hour program that prepares individuals to cleanse, depilate, massage, and beautify the human body and to function as licensed estheticians and skin care specialists. Includes instruction in skin anatomy, physiology, and health; principles of nutrition; decontamination and infection control; health and safety; facial and facial massage, electricity and facial machines methods of hair removal make up, advance topics and treatments client consultation and care; and scope of practice and regulatory rules.

The Esthetics program at Bennett Career Institute is a comprehensive 600-hour course designed to prepare individuals to become licensed estheticians and skin care specialists. Students will receive instruction in various aspects of skincare, including skin anatomy, physiology, and health, as well as principles of nutrition. The curriculum covers topics such as decontamination and infection control, health and safety standards, facial and facial massage techniques, the use of electricity and facial machines, methods of hair removal, makeup application, advanced treatments, client consultation and care, and the scope of practice and regulatory rules governing the field.

OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVE

After completing the program and passing the DC State Board of Cosmetology examination for licensure, students will be qualified to pursue employment as Skin Care Specialists (SOC Code 39-5094).

REQUIREMENTS FOR DC STATE BOARD EXAMINATION FOR ESTHETICS

To be eligible to receive an esthetics license, the applicant shall meet the following requirements:
  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Have completed and been credited with 600 hours of fundamental training
